The BCCI announces the Indian squad for the 2022 Women’s World Cup; Jemimah Rodrigues will not be included
India women’s squad for ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 and New Zealand series was announced by the BCCI on Thursday. One of the biggest surprises was the omission of batter Jemimah Rodrigues, who had been an integral part of the team until India’s last limited-overs assignment in Australia.
A 15-member squad will be led by Mithali Raj, with Harmanpreet Kaur acting as her deputy. Also missing from the squad is Shikha Pandey, while Sneh Rana – who impressed with her all-around skills across all formats last year – is retained.
The Indian team will face Pakistan in their first World Cup match on March 6th, 2022 at the Bay Oval, Tauranga. From 11th February, 2022, the team will play the 5-match one-day international series against New Zealand.
India will play New Zealand, West Indies, England, Australia, Bangladesh, and South Africa in group play after its match against Pakistan.
