The Caribbeans announce T20 World Cup squad

Just in almost a month’s time, the T20 World Cup is set to take place in Australia, starting from October. With this, all the teams are eyeing for the main event and are hunting to find the perfect squad to fly off to the Oceanic country.

The West Indies has announced on Wednesday, their 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup.

Nicholas Pooran will be the leading man and it will be his first World Cup as a skipper, Rovman Powell is assigned as his deputy.

Evin Lewis has been recalled back to the team for the first time since the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup while two uncapped players, Yannic Cariah and Raymon Reifer, have earned their maiden call up to the squad.

The Windies will be eyeing for a third T20 World Cup triumph and their journey starts with a square off against Scotland at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart, Tasmania to qualify for the Super 12 phase of the tournament.

After the Scottish men, they are up against Zimbabwe and Ireland in Group B, the top two teams will be joining the Super 12. Furthermore, top two teams from Group A, featuring Sri Lanka, UAE, Netherlands and Namibia will also be making a place in Super 12.
