The fifth Test between England and India has been delayed till next year ENG v IND News

The fifth Test between England and India was cancelled when the visitors were unable to field a team due to a COVID-19 epidemic among the travelling crew.

Following an agreement between the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India, the cancelled match at Old Trafford will now be played at Edgbaston beginning July 1, 2022. (BCCI).

After the postponed Test, India will play three T20Is and three ODIs against England before wrapping up the tour on July 17th.

When South Africa visits England in August, the second Test will be held at Old Trafford.

“We are delighted to have achieved an agreement with BCCI to bring a fitting conclusion to what has been a fantastic series so far,” said ECB Chief Executive Officer Tom Harrison.
“I’m appreciative to all of the venues involved for their assistance in allowing us to reschedule this game. I’d also like to express my gratitude to Cricket South Africa for their cooperation and understanding in making these adjustments feasible.

“We’d want to apologise to fans once more for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by the September events. We realise it was a day that many have anticipated for a long time.

“We recognize that adding this extra match to the white ball series will result in a tighter timetable.” We’ll continue to look after our players’ well-being and workloads during the coming year, while simultaneously looking for the best schedule for fans, players, and partners across the game.”

Trent Bridge hosts the 3rd T20I on July 10th.

The Oval hosts the first One-Day International on July 12.

Lord’s, 2nd ODI, 14 July

Old Trafford hosts the 3rd One-Day International on July 17th.
