The triple strike by Thakur on Day 2 brings India back into the game

In the second Test here on Tuesday, South Africa reached 102 for four at lunch on the second day, thanks to Keegan Petersen’s half-century and Shardul Thakur’s quickfire strikes. Having been 35 for one at the start of the day, South Africa added 53 runs before losing skipper Dean Elgar for 28. Petersen held the other end together with 62 from 118 balls.

Later in the opening session, Thakur (3/8) took all three wickets — both overnight batters and Rassie van der Dussen (1) — to give his team a slight edge. India still leads South Africa by 100 runs. Indian first innings score was 202. Indian 1st innings score: 202 all out in 63.1 overs.
