Todd Boehly believes that Newcastle will form a ‘Big Seven’

Premier League is a tough competition as the most prolific and competitive teams of the United Kingdom fight for the prestigious title, club Newcastle over the years has lost his charm in the league in front of big teams. Now, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly believes that after the Saudi takeover Newcastle will establish themselves alongside the teams of Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool by forming the ‘Big Seven’.

The Big six includes the likes of – Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham.

Now,  the Chelsea owner believes it is only a matter of time before Chelsea gives a run for their money to other clubs and become one of the elite clubs in the UK.

“The big six will become the big seven with the Saudi deal for Newcastle,” Boehly told the SuperReturn International private equity conference in Berlin on Wednesday.

With Magpies coming into the picture, the club seems to full fledge their financial capabilities to cover the gap between English football and European leagues. Newcastle had finished 11th last season in the Premier League.

Saudi sovereign Public Investment Fund (PIF), chaired by Prince Mohammed, hold an 80% stake in Newcastle. Boehly still believes the Premier League is undervalued, despite billions of money per second spent on the league.

“They don’t realise how big their opportunity is,” Boehly said in the Berlin event.
