Top wrestlers of India who won in the Olympics

Yogeshwar Dutt

Yogeshwar Dutt won a bronze in the 2012 London Olympics, Dutt also won gold medal at the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games. He is one of only 5 male wrestlers in India to win an Olympic medal. in the year 2013, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri. Yogeshwar Dutt joined the Bhartiya Janata Party in September 2019.

Sushil Kumar

After winning a bronze in the Olympics, the Haryana lad claimed an historic silver in 2012 at the London Games that made him India’s only athlete with two individual Olympic medals. Moreover, Sushil won a bronze at the 2008 Beijing Games. Sushil’s win at the 2012 London Olympics made him the first Indian to win 2 individual Olympic Medals since India’s Independence.

Sakshi Malik

Sakshi Malik became the first Indian women wrestler to win an Olympic medal when she took a bronze in the 2016 Rio Games. Also, in 2022, she competed at the Yasar Dogu Tournament held in Istanbul, Turkey. She won bronze in her event at the 2022 Tunis Ranking Series event held in Tunis, Tunisia.

Ravi Kumar Dahiya

Ravi Kumar Dahiya assured a silver medal in the men’s freestyle wrestling 57kg category as he staged a great comeback against Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev to make his way to the final at the Tokyo Olympics. Moreover, the Haryanvi is also a bronze medalist from 2019 World Wrestling Championships and a three time Asian champion. In the 2022 Yasar Dogu Tournament, he won the gold medal after defeating Uzbek Gulomjon Abdullaev 11-10 in the final.
