Hooda was called up for the West Indies ODI series because India needed a batsman who could also bowl, as Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are not fully fit, and both have not been included in the team.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Deepak Hooda played for teams such as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Rajasthan Royals (RR) and scored 785 runs in 80 games at an average of 16.7 and strike rate of 129.5.
