Virat Kohli Was Notified Of The Change In ODI Captaincy Through email

According to the most recent sources, Virat Kohli was just notified of the One Day Internationals (ODI) captaincy change by email.

Rohit Sharma, India’s new ODI and T20I captain, has been named by the BCCI’s senior selection committee. In addition, Rohit has been selected India’s Test vice-captain.

Virat Kohli announced before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 that he will step down as T20I captain after the World Cup, and it was expected that he would lose his ODI captaincy as the BCCI was convinced that white-ball and white-ball captaincy could not be separated, and newly appointed Head Coach Rahul Dravid was on the same page.

The BCCI has also come under fire for sending a single-line statement announcing Rohit’s appointment as the new ODI captain, replacing Kohli.

BCCI And Virat Kohli Had No Prior Discussions Before The Captaincy Change Mail Was Sent To Kohli – Reports

After Ganguly’s poor form and a note from former coach Greg Chappell stating that Ganguly “wasn’t suited to lead the squad” and that his behaviour was “destroying the Indian team,” Rahul Dravid was appointed captain.

Ganguly was supported by the BCCI and its president, Ranbir Singh Mahendra, during this time, as he announced to the public in favour of Ganguly, and ten months later, Ganguly returned to the squad.

Meanwhile, now Virat Kohli has been removed from ODI captaincy and he was informed about it via an email and without any prior discussions regarding this matter.

Virat will now play white-ball cricket under Rohit, and he will be looking forward to concentrate more on his batting, while Rohit will be looking forward to leading Indian cricket to new heights. The BCCI will also have a significant role to play in ensuring that everything runs well. Kohli may or may not have spoken with Ganguly before to the leadership shift.
