Wales vs South Africa, Referee to be remembered the most…
The Springboks will take on Wales at Loftus Versfeld on 2nd July, Saturday and the main attraction of the match is not any player but the referee. The man will also not be much familiar to the South African people.
Georgia’s Nika Amashukeli has been appointed as referee for the clash and he will be supported by assistants Angus Gardner (Australia) and Andrea Piardi (Italy), while the Irishman Joy Neville will be on TMO duty.
Amashukeli landed himself in trouble when he got biased towards the South African team leaving the Welsh team’s eyebrows raised.
A similar type of incident happened with him in a match against Italy and Ireland, when an Italian player contacted his chin on an Irish player. However, the Irishman was given a red card.
The Georgian became the first referee from outside the tier one countries in the Championship.
His unusual way of being an official hasn’t gone down well with many fans and players due to obvious reasons.
