Wasim Jaffer is the idol of Hardik Pandya

Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer, who played majority of cricket at the time of the fab 5 in Indian cricket; Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman who were the backbone of the Indian cricket team for batting.

However, Jaffer made 1944 runs from 31 tests, five centuries and 11 fifties. He scored two doubles centuries for India including a best of 212 against West Indies in 2006 and a 202 against Pakistan in the same year. He gained praises for his ton against South Africa in Cape Town in 2007.

Jaffer did not make a big name for himself on the international stage, still he made his chords hit at the right places. Indian all – rounder Hardik Pandya has also claimed Jaffer as his idol while growing up.

“Like everyone, I had favourite cricketers. I liked Jacques Kallis, Virat, Sachin sir. There are so many greats that you can’t pick. My favorite cricketer was actually Wasim Jaffer. I used to love watching him bat. Someone I always placed him above other legends. Somehow, I used to copy his batting, but I was never able to get his class,” Hardik said on the SG podcast.
