Who are the favourites ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup; let’s find out

The 2022 ICC T20 World Cup is just four months away, the tournament will be held in Australia which was earlier supposed to be held in 2020 but got postponed due to the Covid – 19 pandemic. Eight teams have automatically qualified for the tournament; Australia, England, Afghanistan, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh.

The tournament will be played with 12 teams and the remaining four teams will come from the Global qualifiers. Teams like Ireland, Netherlands, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Zimbabwe, Nepal, UAE and Singapore will face already qualified Namibia, Scotland, Sri Lanka and the West Indies. The top two teams of each group will join the other eight in the Super 12.

Its a main event and the tournament happening in Australia is the icing on the cake. The hosts are also the defending champions.

India, Pakistan, Australia, England, NZ all are favourites to win the world cup, the Men in Blue haven’t won an ICC title since 2013, Pakistan have had an amazing track record in the T20Is which will be an advantage, the Kiwis have had a history of losing in the ICC finals (2019 ODI WC, 2021 T20I WC). Moreover, Australia and England will be looking to dominate their opponents on the big stage.

Matches will be played at seven different venues in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Geelong and Hobart. This is the second in a row ICC tournament after the 2021 T20 World Cup. The Aussie’s will be having an advantage of playing in their home ground, but the teams will surely be ready to take on each other.
