Will Rohit Sharma make it to the 5th Test match?
India captain Rohit Sharma had tested positive for Covid – 19 and now news has popped up that he may miss the fifth and final Test against England starting on Friday. However, the team management, will take a call on his condition after his next Covid test, head coach Rahul Dravid said on Wednesday.
India were playing a warm up game against Leicestershire last week when the news of the Hitman came that he has tested positive. Now, the latest issue which is a big concern is that who will lead India in absence of Rohit Sharma and moreover, vice-captain KL Rahul is also ruled out of the series due to an injury.
“We’ll keep monitoring him (Sharma). We’ve got close to 36 hours to go. he’ll have a test later tonight and one tomorrow as well. It’s up to the medical team to decide. We haven’t had a chance to see him as he’s in quarantine.” Dravid told the reporters.
A strong buzz is that pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be leading if Rohit doesn’t recover on time, although nothing has been finalized yet. The playing XI will also suffer in absence of the captain, Mayank Agarwal has been brought up as replacement for Rohit Sharma.
Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been a question of concern as well due to his inconsistent form. King Kohli last hit an international ton almost three years ago. However, coach Dravid is satisfied by the 33 year old’s progress in the past few days.
