Willis Reed’s Game 7 warm-up jacket goes for auction

New York Knicks legendary basketball player ‘Willis Reed’s warm up jacket which he used in his Game 7 in National Basketball Association (NBA) final back in 1970 is about to be auctioned soon.

Willis Reed is a famous retired basketball player, coach and general manager. He was considered as the best basketball player and spent his entire professional basketball career while playing with the New York Knicks.

In the series against L.A Game 5, he tore his thigh muscle as he hobbled on the Madison Square Garden while he was playing. He got severely injured and because of that, he missed Game 6 due to his medical surgery.

During Game 7, Wilt Chamberlain stepped out of the game, Willis was already injured so he was set back but the team was in a big mess at that time and that’s when he stepped in.

No one from the team, audience thought that Willis would be playing Game 7 because of his surgery. But he showed up and scored 4 points in the match and grabbed 3 rebounds.

With his unbelievable contribution to the team, Game 7 was won by the Knicks and a NBA championship as well.

While playing Game 7, he wore that jacket till the end of the match. That’s why it is considered as a legendary jacket.

The Jackets size is ’48- L’ which has the ‘Knicks ‘New York’ logo on the left chest in orange and blue colour. Auction will be started from 16th May and $10K as a starting amount at Grey Flannel Auctions.
