Born on this day in 1934, Karima Mokhtar completed her bachelor’s in theatre from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts. However little is known about her parents’ disapproval of her becoming an actress. Yet, she stuck to her dream and continued further. First, she became a radio presenter for a Children’s show ‘Baba Sharou’. This show led to her bagging her role as a film actress in the film ‘Thaman El-Horeya’. Later on, she also starred in Al-Hafeed. Her success was accounted by films such as Amira Hobi Ana, Al-Shaytan Ya’ez, El-Eyal Kebret, Yetraba Fi Ezo and others. She received acclaim and awards for her phenomenal work. She became a celebrated actress in Egypt. Karima also received the Best Actress award at the Cairo Arab Media Festival in the year 2007. She left behind a legacy for the generations to come. She turned into an inspiration for many. Karima Mokhtar is a revered name in the Egyptian film industry.
