30 killed, 50 injured in powerful Peshawar mosque blast

At least 30 people were killed and more than 50 were injured when a bomb ripped through a crowded Shia Mosque during the Friday congregation in this northwestern Pakistani city.

According to reports, at least 30 people were killed and dozens were injured in Peshawar on Friday after an explosion near the Qissa Khwani Bazaar area. According to initial reports, two attackers attempted to enter the mosque and fired at police officers on duty, according to CCPO Peshawar Ijaz Ahsan, as quoted by Pakistani media. Following the shooting incident, there was a blast inside the mosque.

The blast occurred during Friday prayers at a Jamia mosque in Peshawar’s Qissa Khwani bazaar area.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosion. According to Dawn, Asim Khan, the media manager for Lady Reading, said 30 bodies had been brought to the hospital so far. Officials have stated that the condition of ten of the injured is critical.

According to Capital City Police Officer Peshawar Ijaz Ahsan, two attackers attempted to enter the mosque and fired at the police officers standing guard. According to him, one officer was killed and another was critically injured.

Peshawar Chief Minister Mahmood Khan also condemned the incident and demanded a report from the Peshawar Inspector-General of Police. The chief minister urged rescue workers to complete their work as soon as possible and provincial cabinet members to keep an eye on the situation.
