‘Block Russian news sources,’ some governments request: says Elon Musk

Elon Musk presents himself as a free speech absolutist.

Some governments request to block Russian news sources, says Elon Musk.

Currently, Ukraine is suffering with Russia induced pandemonium. For over a week now, Russia’s offensive stance on multiple fronts against Ukraine is lasting. There are no signs of deterrence. Russia is shelling Ukraine and disturbing it’s peace and integrity. In response to Russia’s actions, the world condemns it.

On 26th February, the vice prime minister of Ukraine appeals to Elon Musk for providing Starlink satellite connectivity in Ukrainian war zone.

Later, post 10 hours, Elon Musk tweets that they are sending satellites for better connectivity in Ukraine.

For in Ukraine, the network issues are becoming prevalent due to war.

Starlink is a non-conventional network service provider. It connects users to satellites/terminals. Thus, it is easily reachable in a region undergoing crisis.

For Elon Musk, he is a proponent of free speech. Thus, he makes sure that Ukrainians do not face isolation.

Elon Musk’s response to governments’ request to block Russian news sources:

On Saturday, Elon Musk calls out some anonymous governments on Twitter.

He writes that some governments are asking him to prevent the news from Russian sources from circulating.

However, Elon Musk writes further than he will not do so even if he is put in extreme circumstances.

Lastly, he presumes his satirical ground by apologizing for being a free speech absolutist.
