Ex-Zelensky rep rips Harris for laughter, says it would be ‘tragedy’ if she’s ever president
Vice President Kamala Harris was chastised on Thursday for laughing inappropriately when asked if the US would accept Ukrainian refugees, prompting Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s former press secretary to say it would be a “tragedy” if she became president.
The awkward moment occurred during a joint press conference in Warsaw with Harris and Poland President Andrzej Duda.
Kamala Harris was asked whether the US will take zelin Ukrainian refugees during a press conference with Poland’s president. She and Andrzej Duda looked at each other and laughed loudly when a reporter asked the question. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s former press secretary said it would be a “tragedy” if she ever became president. After the laughter died down, Duda asked Harris to speed up the consular process so refugees with family in the US could stay with them.
“Kamala Harris has been very consistent during her live remarks with Poland’s leader,” said former Donald Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos. “She is awkwardly laughing. Again. Discussing refugees is no laughing matter. Why she laughs at this is deranged.”
‘It would be a tragedy if this woman won the presidency,’ Iuliia Mendel, the former Zelensky spokesperson, said in a quote tweet responding to a video of the interaction. She later deleted the post after backlash. ‘Only Kamala Harris would find it appropriate to laugh when talking about the topic of Ukrainian Refugees, tweeted Benny Johnson of Turning Point USA.
This isn’t the first time Harris has been chastised for laughing inappropriately. In August, Harris interrupted a reporter’s question about the botched US withdrawal from Afghanistan by saying, “Hold on, hold on — slow down, everybody,” before bursting out laughing.
