Foreigner harassed in Pakistan on the 75th Independence Day

On the occasion of the Islamic country’s 75th Independence Day, an horrifying incident took place in the national capital Islamabad. Three foreign tourists, including two women, were harassedin Shakarparian.

As per the police, the incident happened at the Pakistan Monument, although, the police have not received any complaints for further investigation. “No one complained to the administration present at the site of the incident”, the police added.

A Twitter page named, Islamabad Updates, had posted a video of the same, the page posts about different issues in the federal capital. It shared three videos of the incident in which more than a dozen men could be seen harassing the tourists as they surround them.

“Boys misbehaving with foreign tourists on the occasion of #Pakistan’s #IndependenceDay in Shakarparian, #Islamabad. Authorities must identify and punish the culprits,” the video caption said.

With the incident, it has raised many eyebrows of the netizens, with people asking authorities concerned to initiate an investigation and catch the culprits involved in the matter.

Moreover, women in Pakistan have to face violence of every extent there is, whether it is sexual harassment, domestic violence, forced marriages etc.

A report by the police has claimed that 41,000 women in the Punjab province have been reported to be missing in the last five years and with more than 3,500 still unrecovered.
