In the midst of a fight, Elon Musk sends a rude tweet about Bill Gates
Elon Reeve Musk FRS is a business magnate and investor. He is the founder, CEO, and Chief Engineer at SpaceX; angel investor, CEO, and Product Architect of Tesla, Inc.; founder of The Boring Company; and co-founder of Neuralink and OpenAI.
What is this about?
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, retaliated on Twitter after Microsoft founder Bill Gates downplayed his attempt to short Tesla stocks on Saturday.
Gates made the remarks during an interview with HugoDécrypte, a French YouTuber. Musk reportedly accused Gates of being unconcerned about climate change because he gambled “half a billion dollars” against Tesla.
Gates claimed that he had invested more money in climate change than anyone else, to which Musk replied, “Sigh.”
Gates stated, “I give a lot more to climate change than Elon Musk or anyone else.” “I contribute a lot of philanthropic cash, I back firms – you know, electric cars only account for around 16 percent of emissions, so we need to address the remaining 84 percent.”
The communication comes more than a month after Musk stated in late April that he had turned down a chance to collaborate on philanthropy with Gates. Musk shared a text discussion with Gates in which he questioned him about his $500 million shorting shares against Tesla. Before the billionaires met, Musk questioned Gates if he still had a “half billion dollar short bet against Tesla.”
“I’m sorry, but I haven’t closed it yet,” Gates said. “I’d like to talk about philanthropic opportunities.” Musk immediately dismissed Gates’ offer, saying that “when you have a big short position against Tesla, the company doing the most to solve climate change,” he couldn’t take it seriously.”
Musk had just sent a crude tweet comparing Gates to the “pregnant guy” emoji days before the discussion. Gates has yet to respond to the tweet publicly.
