Japan: Fire broke out in Osaka Building killing atleast 24, Police searched house of a Suspected Man linked with fire
A fire broke out in a mental health clinic in a commercial building in Osaka, Japan on 17th December. The firefighters and police reached as soon as the fire started on the fourth floor of the 8-storey building but still, more than 24 died because of fire caused by arson.
The building is located in a shopping and entertainment district not far from Osaka’s main train station and also features a beauty salon, a clothing shop and an English-language school.
The Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida offered his “sincere condolences” and also said that they will figure out the reasons for the fire and will take essential measures to avoid such incidents in future.
Then after everything was settled, Japanese police searched the house of one of the patients of the mental clinic as he is a possible suspect as a small fire broke out at the man’s house about half an hour earlier the building fire.
The suspected one was in severe condition and was one of the three people who survived but was still not well enough to be interrogated.
According to a witness, the fire started because of a man who entered the clinic with a paper bag which he put next to a heater by the reception desk and kicked it. A strange liquid poured out of the bag which caught fire and the next moment, the whole floor was in flames and smoke.
The Osaka fire department has said that 27 of the 28 people are injured enough in the blaze to have died but still waiting for the doctors to certify that. Until evening, most of the fire trucks were gone and the burned-out windows and floors were covered with blue tarpaulin.
