Japan is furious over Russia’s withdrawal from Island’s Peace Treaty talks

Japan reacted furiously after Russia withdrew from a peace treaty talks with Japan related to the Kuril Islands.

Russia and Japan didn’t end World War II formally. At the end of the war, The Soviet Union seized Japan’s Island. For years these two hostile countries are stand-off over these Islands.  In Japa, this Island is called as Northern Territories and In Russia, it’s known as Kurils.  When Japan called for Peace treaty talks over this Island, Russia withdrew because of Japanese sanctions over Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry told Russia has withdrawn the talk of allowing Japanese citizens to travel visa-free on the Kuril Islands

On Friday, Japan has imposed sanctions on 76 individuals, seven banks, 12 bodies along with defence officials and State-owned arms exporters.

After this Russia’s Foreign Ministry stated on Monday that because of Japan’s ” Open Unfriendly positions and attempts to damage the Interest of our Country” it would not continue the negotiation. To this Japanese Prime Minister Fumido strongly opposed Russia, ” This entire situation has been created by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and Russia’s Response to push this onto Japan-Russia is extremely unfair and Completely Unacceptable.”He further added that ” Japan must resolutely continue to sanction Russia in cooperation with the rest of the world.”

Last year also Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said that both Tokyo and Moscow wanted good relations but didn’t reach the peace agreement
