MH17: In The Spotlight Seeking Justice

Malaysia is still dedicated to seeking out the facts, justice, and whoever is responsible for the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in Ukraine on the eighth anniversary of the disaster. There is a tonne of tweets on Twitter requesting justice. The hashtags “MH17” and “Justice for MH17” is trending on Twitter.

Multilateral investigations have reported that on July 17, 2014, MH17, a flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, was utterly destroyed by a missile launched from a location kept in check by pro-Russian separatists battling Ukrainian government forces.

n tandem with the centenary of the calamity, the Transport Ministry declared that covering the facts of what happened remains to be their paramount consideration. The ministry pleaded with all governments and stakeholders to fully engage with the legal processes mandated by UN Security Council Resolution 2166. (2014). The ministry also offered its condolences to and support for the surviving family members as they remember the awful loss of 298 lives—two-thirds of them Dutch citizens—on the aircraft.

Even though there is no way to bring back the deceased or lessen the loss and suffering endured by their families and loved ones, it is critical to pursue responsibility and make sure that such a horrific tragedy never occurs again. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the deceased, their families, and loved ones.
