Neuralink progress update show and tell on October 31st – Elon Musk

Elon Musk previously stated that Neuralink planned to do a status update show and tell on Halloween, October 31.

Neuralink’s most recent important update included a video of a monkey playing mind tricks. Nine-year-old Macaque Pager had a Neuralink implanted before the video. Pager published a video at the start of April 2021.

Neuralink is expected to start conducting human tests by the end of 2022, according to Elon Musk, who stated as much in April. The show and tell event in October would be a fantastic chance to announce the start of human trials and demonstrate the company’s progress to that point.

Over the weekend, Elon Musk reportedly approached Synchron, a competitor of Neuralink, about a potential investment deal. According to sources, Musk got in touch with Thomas Oxley, the CEO, and creator of Synchron.

The COMMAND research, the first human clinical trials for Synchron in the United States, started in May of this year. The stentrode device was developed by a competitor of Neuralink to help people with severe paralysis. A Synchron spokesperson said in July that Mount Sinai West in New York has successfully implanted the company’s first Stentrode in a human.

The U.S.’s first endovascular BCI implant is a significant clinical milestone that opens up new possibilities for patients with paralysis, said Oxley at the time. “Our technology is for the many millions of people who can’t use their hands to operate digital devices. We’re excited to launch a scalable BCI solution because it has the potential to transform countless lives.

Synchron intends to carry out the first FDA-approved clinical test for a permanently implanted brain-computer interface (BCI) in the United States with the COMMAND project.
