On the way to the hospital, a mother is accused of attempting to suffocate her ‘evil’ newborn kid

Ashley Hollingsworth, 22, of Las Vegas, Nevada, is charged with attempted murder and child abuse after telling cops she felt “evil” in her tummy.

After being suspected of attempting to smother her newborn baby, a mother allegedly informed police she had “something bad” in her stomach.

Ashley Hollingsworth had just given birth at home and was on her way to the hospital when she reportedly attempted to suffocate the baby.

According to the New York Post, Hollingsworth, 22, of Las Vegas, faces one charge of attempted murder and child cruelty after attempting to tie a blanket around the baby’s head on Saturday, March 26.

As she, the infant, and the baby’s father were driving to MountainView Hospital, she allegedly crushed the blanket on the child’s nose and face.

Hollingsworth refused to enter the emergency room after arriving at the hospital because she was “bleeding badly.”

Hollingsworth instead fled the area surrounding the hospital and was discovered two hours later with head injuries.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, woman informed officers she was “beaten up with a rock.”

The culprit was seen with two black eyes in a mugshot.

She allegedly told officers she was trying to kill “something nasty” in her stomach.

The baby was brought to the hospital by his father for treatment.

MountainView doctors first thought the youngster had a brain bleed, according to police.

The baby, however, did not receive any injuries as a result of the terrifying episode, according to the diagnosis.

On Monday, Hollingsworth is scheduled to appear in court.
