There are thousands of protestors. The Canadian truck drivers are hosting the gathering. Also, the protest is nearly 4 weeks old now. It is against the COVID-19 mandates and mainly, for travelers across border which includes truck drivers.
The ongoing protest is hampering the trade between US and Canada.
Moreover, it might be the worst crisis in Trudeau rule since he assumed power in 2015.

In order to alleviate the internal and trade crisis induced by the protest of Canadian truck driver, prime minister, Justin Trudeau assumes emergency power.
Canadian police makes arrests to end the ongoing protest. As per Canadian police, they expect cooperation such that the arrests are peaceful and in the absence of violence. They request to maintain a lawful environment.
There are footages surfacing where police is arresting atleast 8 truckers without using any force. So far, there are reports of nearly 100 arrests. Two of their leaders are arrested too.
Due to overnight snowfall, the temperature of Ottawa drops to -23°C. Additionally, the roads enshroud with 20cm of snow.
Thousands of protestors and truck drivers fill the street. Moreover, a BearCat, a military style armoured vehicle was on the street.
Further, police says that clearing of the street of Ottawa will take some days.
