Taiwan braces for Chinese invasion over Nancy Pelosi’s visit

On Tuesday, Chinese jets are said to have been deployed near self-ruled Taiwan to pile up pressure over Nancy Pelosi’s visit, reported Times Now.

Pelosi is expected to stop off in Taiwan and meet President Tsai Ing-Wen on August 3. Amid Pelosi’s visit, Taiwan has reportedly put its military on high alert as it prepares for war with China.

According to local media, Taiwan is preparing for war and has called officers back from leave as it braces for a Chinese invasion, The Taiwanese National Defense Ministry is said to have briefed its air defences that it should be prepared for the war in the coming days.

Beijing has been left angered by suggestions that US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will visit Taiwan during her Asian tour, which has now started.

A stop in Taiwan is not added to Ms. Pelosi’s itinerary and Biden administration officials have warned against it because of concerns about China’s response to such a high-profile visit after it announced the trip would endanger peace and stability.

On Monday, China has doubled down on its position and warns that its military will not sit idly if Pelosi arrives in Taiwan.
