UAE has been halted due to rocket attack on the city by Houthi forces

The United Arab Emirates has destroyed two Houthi ballistic missiles that targeted Abu Dhabi on Monday.

A week ago on January 17, an assault was launched against the gulf country by the Houthis. This deadly attack led to the death of three people and also caused a fire at the new construction area at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The attempted attack which led to the explosion of three fuel tanks caused the death of one Pakistani along with two Indians.

Yemen`s Houthis have been repeatedly carrying out cross-border missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia for more than six years.

At 4;10 a.m., January 24,  an F-16 fighter jet was destroyed at a launch site in al-Jawf in Yemen. The defence ministry of UAE stated, “The remnants of the intercepted ballistic missiles fell in separate areas around Abu Dhabi,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that it was taking the necessary protective measures against all attacks.

It must be noted that the UAE government banned all flight operations for a month after the January 17 attack. The ban also includes all the air and sail spots in the country.

In 2015, UAE had interfered in Yemen’s civil war. Since then UAE is facing several attacks from the Houthis.
