US to restore sanctions waiver to Iran- To save Iran nuclear deal

A US State Department official says waiver needed to allow for technical discussions key to talks on nuclear deal return.

The US is restoring sanctions waiver to Iran, as the Biden administration is moving to secure a Nuclear deal (2015) with Tehran.

The change in policies will allow other countries to cooperate on certain nonproliferation activities needed to return to the international nuclear agreement, as per State Department.

Now it has reached its critical point. Nuclear talks between US and Iran are now entering the final phase, with negotiations in Vienna. To revoke JCPOA(Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) or Iran nuclear deal(or Iran deal). JCPOA was created in 2015.

The waiver, which was ended by the Trump administration in May 2020, had allowed Russian, Chinese, and European companies to carry out non-proliferation work at Iranian nuclear sites. In May 2018, the US withdrew from JCPOA, as of Trump. And following the U.S. withdrawal, the EU enacted an updated blocking statute to nullify U.S. sanctions on countries trading with Iran.

Iran’s security chief Ali Shamkhani reacted to the news on Saturday by saying that Iran has the right to a peaceful nuclear programme, as per sources reported.“Iran’s legal right to continue research and development and to maintain its peaceful nuclear capabilities and achievements, along with its security against supported evils, cannot be restricted by any agreement,” he tweeted.

The US and Iran have been indulged in conversations, in Vienna to revoke the deal. Which saw Iran scale back its nuclear programme in exchange for lifting international sanctions against its economy.
