USA Today removes 23 articles for fake information
The USA today has claimed that it has removed 23 articles from their website after an investigation, a reporter who had written the news had made use of fabricated sources.
The journalist who is said to have used the fabricated sources was identified as Gabriela Miranda, a breaking news reporter who resigned from the Virginia based newspaper weeks ago, the paper confirmed on Thursday. Miranda’s most recent news story for USA Today is dated on April 17 .
After the controversy was raised, Miranda has deleted her LinkedIn account. Miranda was assigned the duty of covering “trending news worldwide” at the USA Today.
The USA Today wrote in a draft that, “After receiving an external correction request, USA Today audited the reporting work of Gabriela Miranda. The audit revealed that some individuals quoted were not affiliated with the organization claimed and appeared to be fabricated,” the note read.
USA Today will probably tell their readers that they will review its processes “to prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future.”
The paper has pledged to everyone to “improve our process for those who want to lodge complaints or request correction.”
USA Today is a very respectable and the most circulated newspaper in the United States.
