What is being claimed?
It is being claimed in a news article that the Election Commission will deduct ₹ 350 from the bank accounts of voters who do not exercise their franchise in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It has also been said that those who do not vote will be identified through an Aadhar card. This amount will be deducted from their bank account linked to this card. It has been claimed that the Election Commission has also given orders to all the banks in this regard. The spokesperson of the Commission has been quoted as saying that the expenditure made by the Commission on the preparations made for the voters who do not come to vote goes waste. Therefore, the damage caused will be recovered from the voters only. For this, the commission has already taken approval from the court so that later no one can approach the court against this decision.

When the Press Information working under the Central Government investigated this claim, it came to know that this news is completely baseless and fake. The PIB said that the Central Election Commission has not taken any such decision. The Bureau said that neither such a decision has been taken by the Central Government nor has the Election Commission issued an order to the banks in this regard. Therefore, the question of ordering such a decision on the part of the Court does not arise. PIB has said that in its investigation, this claim has been found to be 100% fake.
