Fact Check : Will there be 18% GST On Crematorium Services?

Goods and Services Tax, or GST, is very much an oblique tax applied to the provision of goods and services in India. This is a comprehensive, sequential, itinerary tax. It is meticulous since it has eliminated almost all excise taxes, apart from a handful of state levies.

Although the government has mostly succeeded in establishing a uniform tax on the trade of goods and services throughout the nation, GST still needs clarity.

There was a false assertion made a few days ago on Twitter by several Twitter users that the GST rate for crematorium services will be 18%. At first, this story completely took over social media and the Indian people. A significant portion of the Indian population was so persuaded that they started castigating the system without orchestrating any investigation or bothering to check.

However, the ‘PBI Fact Check’ page deserves praise for conducting an inquiry and gathering the information. PBI looked at the case in its entirety and disregarded all of this propaganda.

On Wednesday, PBI Fact Check boasts mirrored along with the appropriate corroboration on their Twitter account, captioning the tweet with the original erroneous claim. PBI continued by saying that this allegation is deceptive.

Funeral, burial, cremation, and mortuary services are all exempt from GST. In this context, services are not subject to the GST at 18%; only work contracts are.
