Top Electric Car Manufacturers in India

With the government’s goal of going fully electric by 2030, several brands have emerged in India’s electric vehicle segment. Their goal is to make EVs more affordable, reliable, and ideal replacements for ICE. TATA Motors and Mahindra, both household names in the country, are among these EV brands, as are newcomers such as Ather Energy and Okinawa. More brands, including Maruti Suzuki, Yamaha, and Honda, are expected to join the bandwagon in the near future.

Tata Motors Pvt Ltd.

Tata is a well-known car manufacturer in India, as well as the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles in the country. Tata Motor produces 10,000 electric cars for government offices across India in collaboration with EESL for India’s Mission 2030 electric.

Tata Motors’ Tigor EV and Tiago EV are two electric cars that are also the cheapest electric cars in India. The company successfully delivered its first batch of 230 Tigor EVs to Indian government officials.

Tiago has been a huge success for Tata, selling an average of 5600 units per month over the last 12 months. After Hexa, Tigor, and now Nexon, Tata has launched its marketplace.

Mahindra Electric Motors

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M) is an Indian multinational automotive manufacturing corporation headquartered in Mumbai that is one of India’s leading electric vehicles (EV) manufacturers. It is India’s only company that sells electric cars to the general public. The company is involved in the design and production of small electric vehicles.

Mahindra Motors is ranked third among Indian automobile manufacturers. The company has introduced several electric vehicles, including the eVerito, eSupro, Treo, eAlfa Mini, and e2oPlus.

Ashok Leyland Electric

Ashok Leyland is a well-known automobile manufacturer in India and the country’s second-largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles. Ashok Leyland is well-known for producing heavy trucks, buses, and commercial light vehicles.

The company is a major player in the development of complete mobility solutions and is widely recognised as a valuable asset in the defence logistics industry for the armed forces. It makes a significant contribution to the military vehicle.

Ashok Leyland will design and manufacture electric buses using ABB’s TOSA technology, which allows for battery upgrades in seconds. TOSA is the world’s fastest flash-charging connection technology, with a charging time of only 15 seconds and a 600-kW power boost.

Hyundai

Hyundai launched its electric vehicle campaign in India in 2019 with the launch of the Kona SUV. Despite the fact that the segment was in its early stages at the time, it was one of the first foreign brands to develop an electric vehicle for the Indian market. After thoroughly analysing the Indian EV market and taking into account various factors, the South Korean automaker is expected to launch six new electric vehicles at various price points by 2028. It intends to do so in collaboration with its sister brand, Kia Motors, by pooling resources and targeting different types of market audiences.

KONA Electric

Hyundai’s Kona Electric vehicle is India’s first fully electric SUV, with a price tag of Rs. 25.3 lakh. The SUV includes Android smartphone connectivity, a Google navigation system, USB entertainment features, and wireless phone charging.

Hyundai is not only providing a powerful driving experience with the KONA Electric SUV, but it is also planning to install EV charging stations in India through a partnership with IOCL at fuel stations.
