Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is one of India’s two main political parties. Since 2014, it has been the Republic of India’s leading political party, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP is a right-wing party with a history of supporting Hindu nationalist policies. It is ideologically and structurally linked to the much older Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It is the nation’s leading party in terms of seats in the national parliament or a state legislature as of February 17, 2022.

Chinese Communist Party (CCP)

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP), officially the Communist Party of China (CPC), is the People’s Republic of China’s founding and only ruling party. Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao created the CCP in 1921. Mao Zedong joined the Communist Party as a founding member and ascended through the ranks to become its leader and chairman in 1943. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) won the Chinese Civil War against the Kuomintang under his leadership, and Mao declared the People’s Republic of China in 1949. Since then, the CCP has ruled China as the leader of the United Front coalition, which includes eight other political parties, and has exclusive command of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

Democratic Party

One of the two main political parties in the United States today is the Democratic Party. It is the oldest known active political party, having been founded in 1828 by followers of Andrew Jackson. The Republican Party has been its primary political opponent since the 1860s.

Republican Party

One of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States is the Republican Party, sometimes known as the GOP (“Grand Old Party”).
Abolitionists opposing the Kansas–Nebraska Act, which allowed for the potential expansion of chattel slavery into western territory, created the GOP in 1854.

The demise of the Whig Party, which had previously been one of the country’s two major parties, bolstered it at the same time. The Republican Party was founded on the principles of economic reform and classical liberalism, while opposing the extension of slavery. Northern Protestants, manufacturing workers, professionals, businesspeople, rich farmers, and, after 1866, former black slaves made up the majority of the population.

Indian National Congress (INC)

The Indian National Congress (INC), also known as the Congress Party or just Congress, is a major political party in India. It was the first modern nationalist movement to develop in the British Empire in Asia and Africa, having been founded in 1885. Under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, Congress became the primary leader of the Indian independence struggle in the late nineteenth century, particularly after 1920. The Congress led India to independence from the United Kingdom and had a significant impact on other anti-colonial nationalist movements around the British Empire. The Congress is known as the “great old party” because of its long history.
