A wait that seemed almost endless has come to an end with the recent statement made by the director/writer Robert Rodriguez.I think you have got an idea by now that we are talking about the Spy Kids reboot which was announced by Netflix a year ago but then no news came after it. We knew that the production wrapped up in September 2022 so 2023 was certain for the release, but now it has been confirmed.
During an interview, Rodriguez confirmed to Collider the release of Spy Kids reboots. He said
“ I don’t know if I can say the release date, but it’s coming, it’s this year. We haven’t announced it yet, but it’s coming this year. I just finished scoring it, so you know, we’re still waiting for visual effects. It won’t be done until August, so it won’t be any earlier than August.”
There are some chances that Netflix can keep it for December which is considered as the best time for the release of family movies. If we talk about it’s total gross amount earned from the first four movies in the series it is less than $350 million. Now Spy Kids Reboot taking the new route of Netflix may induce the interest in mass to enjoy it with family. Hollywood has had quite a good fortune when it comes to reboots and legacy sequels so Spy Kids Reboot makers expecting it to earn more than ever before sounds logical.
The new Spy Kids Reboot will feature Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez and Shazam actor Zachary Levi in the leading roles.
