1987 IAS Topper Amir Subhani nominated as new Chief Secretary of Bihar
The wait for who will be the new Chief Secretary of Bihar is over now. The Bihar government has appointed its famous officer Amir Subhani as the new chief secretary. Subhani will replace outgoing Chief Secretary Tripurari Sharan.
Amir Subhani, a 1987 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service, will be the new Chief Secretary of Bihar. The General Administration Department issued the notification of his posting on Thursday. Subhani will take over as the new Chief Secretary from January 1 after outgoing Chief Secretary Tripurari Sharan retires on December 31.
Amir Subhani, a native of Siwan district, has been a topper in the 1987 batch UPSC examination. He has worked as DM in many districts of the state and on many important posts. Aamir Subhani, working as the Development Commissioner, will retire on April 30, 2024. On the other hand, Additional Chief Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Atul Prasad 1987, has been made Development Commissioner. Atul Prasad will retire on February 28, 2022.
Let us tell you that Tripurari Sharan is currently on the post of Chief Secretary of Bihar. Tripurari Sharan is retiring on Friday i.e. December. His service extension had been done twice before. But this time the decision to extend the service was not taken. A total of 14 agendas were approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday, in which it was also decided not to extend the tenure of the current Chief Secretary. After which it was decided that in the new year, Bihar would get new chief secretaries.
There were many faces in the race for the new chief secretary, but the strongest claim was that of 1987 batch IAS officer Aamir Subhani. In a way, it was believed that Aamir Subhani’s name would be the last seal. Subhani was relieved of the additional charge of three posts and was now on the post of Development Commissioner.
Subhani is found in the list of trusted officers of CM Nitish Kumar. Recently, a candidate from Bihar topped the UPSC Civil Services Examination, while CM Nitish had mentioned about Aamir Subhani being the top.
