PM Modi dressed more like a sikh with saropa on his shoulder
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a number of prominent Sikhs at his residence.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted prominent Sikhs from across India at his 7 Lok Kalyan Marg residence here on Friday, praising the community’s contributions to national integrity and prosperity. Following the meeting, Sikh leaders referred to the prime minister as a “Sikh at heart,” citing his contributions to the faith, such as the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor.
PM Narendra Modi hosted a number of prominent Sikhs at his residence on Friday and highlighted the works done by his government for the community. The meeting came two days before the Punjab Assembly polls, with the BJP going all out to woo the Sikh community. PM Modi has often criticised the Congress for not taking measures to ensure that the Kartarpur Sahib did not fall in Pakistan when India was divided in 1947.
Harmeet Singh Kalka, president of the Delhi Gurudwara Committee, Padma Sri-awardee Baba Balbir Singh ji Sichewal, Mahant Karamjit Singh of Sewapanthi, Yamuna Nagar, and Baba Joga Singh of Dera, Sant Baba Mejor Singh Waa of Mukhi Dera and Baba Jang Singh of Karnal Amritsar’s Baba Tara Singh Waa were among the Sikh personalities who met with Modi.
Sikhs have met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and praised his work for the community, including removal of GST on langars run by gurdwaras. PM Modi has opened a corridor to Kartarpur Sahib and decided to commemorate the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh’s sons, Sikh Gurudwara Committee president Harmeet Singh Sirsa said. Other prominent Sikhs who met Mr Modi included Jathedar Baba Sahib Singh of Kar Sewa and Mahant Karamjit Singh of Mukhi Dera Baba Tara Singh Waa in Amritsar.
