Apple Reportedly Planning a 15-Inch MacBook Air
Apple is rumoured to be working on a new, larger MacBook Air model, which will be released alongside an updated 13-inch model in late 2023.
The prediction comes from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), which just released its Quarterly Advanced IT Display Shipment and Technology report, according to 9To5Mac. According to the report, Apple is planning to increase the size of the display in the 13.3-inch MacBook Air, but it will still be less than 14 inches.
The rest of the information is currently unknown. According to the cited source, the company is also working on an entry-level iPad with a slightly larger display than the current models. The exact dimensions are still unknown. Apple currently sells the budget iPad model with a 10.2-inch screen for Rs 30,900. This one is powered by an A13 Bionic chipset.
The report’s main prediction is that Apple will also release a 15-inch model. The exact size isn’t specified, but if the smaller Air gets a larger display, Apple should use a panel closer to 16 inches to ensure a clear distinction between the two models in terms of screen real estate.
Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, also commented on the 15-inch model’s prediction, stating that it might not be called a MacBook Air. He also believes Apple is planning on using the same 30W power adapter as the current MacBook Air. So, while it’s larger, it’s not going to be a higher-performance laptop.
Finally, he goes further than DSCC by stating that mass production will not begin until the fourth quarter of 2023.
