LinkBuds S Earbuds, WF-1000XM5 Earbuds, and WH-1000XM5 Headphones – New Updates
The LinkBuds S earbuds, WF-1000XM5 earbuds, and WH-1000XM5 headphones are receiving updates with software versions – Version 4.0.2, Version 2.3.1, and Version 4.2.1 respectively. These updates will be bringing selected features such as – support for Auto Switch, support for Google Fast Pair through LE Audio priority connection, and support for Google’s new Find My Device to the devices.
To keep in mind, users of the respective devices must make sure to update their devices only when the device connection is the most stable. If a Bluetooth Low Energy Device is connected to the device, there is a chance that the update may become unavailable to them. Disconnect all such devices before proceeding with the update. Also, it has been advised not to update while traveling as 2.4GHz band radio waves may get intermingled, creating problems during the update process.
The whole update process may take 40 to 60 minutes on Android and iOS devices respectively. At the time of updation, users may continue using their earbuds or headphones, but if any kind of issues are noted, it will be better to not use them while updating. Also, users must ensure that a required level of battery charge is present both on the earbuds/headphones as well as on the connected device. Finally, change the setting of Sound Connect to ‘Do not turn off’ before updating.
