Google Announces Two New Chromebooks Along with New Software Features: Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus and Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11″
Chromebooks have started to be accepted by many for both productivity and work purposes, and Google has decided to add two more Chromebook models to its already widely accepted range of Chromebooks. Apart from the two Chromebook models, the brand is also bringing out new software features as well for its users.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus
The latest Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus is said to be the thinnest and lightest Chromebook Plus ever with a weight of 1.17 kg (2.58 pounds) and a thickness of 11.8 mm. The device is powered by an Intel Core 3 100U Raptor Lake-R processor and is coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. A 15.6″ OLED display screen with 400 nits brightness and a battery life of up to 13 hours are other key specs.
Notably, there is one more thing that makes the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus special – the all-new Quick Insert Key. This new key offers users a pop-up menu that lets them perform various operations and needs starting from quick access to Help Me Write, easy addition of emojis and GIFs, a list of recently opened websites, and access to Google Drive and other tactical tools. For the time being, the Quick Insert Key will remain exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus, however, other Chromebook and Chromebook Plus users will be able to make use of it via a keyboard shortcut. By next year, the Quick Insert Key will be made available on all Chromebook and Chromebook Plus models.
About the price and availability, the Samsung branded Galaxy Chromebook Plus is priced at $699/£649. It will be available starting this month (October 2024), and customers can get it in a Neptune Blue color.
Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11″
The Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11″ is a compact and two-in-one Chromebook model that can be converted and used both as a laptop and tablet, thanks to the built-in kickstand. It runs on MediaTek’s Kompanio 838 processor and offers 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. For its display, it has a 10.95″ WUXGA narrow-bezel display that supports 400 nits brightness. Other key specs include a case with an integrated keyboard, Lenovo USI Pen 2 support (sold separately), a 5MP front camera, and an 8MP rear camera. On the battery side, users can expect up to 12 hours of battery life.
It is priced at $339/£349, and the Chromebook has already been made available for purchase.
New Software Features
Now coming to the new software features, other than the availability of Gemini Live and Help Me Write features, Help Me Read to summarize PDFs, articles & websites, Live Translate to overcome language barriers, enhanced Recorder App that lets users capture thoughts, ideas and notes, and updated video call features are now introduced by Google. Free Google One AI Premium for three months, Recap tool, distraction-free experience with Focus, and home screen pin feature are again some of the other new features brought to Chromebooks.
