MediaTek has announced Dimensity 1080 for 5G smartphones today, check out what it is

The Dimensity 1080 for 5G devices was announced today by chip manufacturer MediaTek. According to a press release from MediaTek, the new 5G chipset outperforms its predecessor, the Dimensity 920, in terms of performance and photography features.

The Dimensity 1080 offers essentially minimal improvements over its predecessor and even has a similar CPU cluster with slightly higher clock rates. According to Mediatek, phones with the Dimensity 1080 SoC would be out by the fourth quarter of 2022.

The Dimensity 1080 provides faster performance for browsing, streaming, and gaming. Thanks to an upgraded octa-core CPU with two Arm Cortex-A78 CPU cores operating at up to 2.6GHz and an Arm Mali-G68 GPU. The chipset’s 6nm design offers numerous power-saving benefits that increase battery life.

The Dimensity 1080 supports a 200MP main camera and MediaTek’s Imagiq image signal processor. Among other modern camera features for taking high-quality photos and videos (ISP). A hardware-accelerated HDR video recording engine is also built into the chipset to process videos up to 4K resolution. This gives the streamer generation better video capture results in all lighting conditions.

Both the built-in AI processing unit 3.0 (APU 3.0) of the chipset and the HyperEngine 3.0. The gaming advances on the Dimensity 1080 provide gamers with speedy performance and flawless communication. Additionally, the Dimensity 1080 supports sub-6GHz 5G networks and Wi-Fi 6, enabling gamers to play continuously and smoothly.
