In December 2023, Google officially launched its AI model Gemini which includes Gemini Ultra, Gemini Pro, and Gemini Nano. As per Google, Gemini Nano is the most efficient model for on-device tasks. Gemini Nano was already running on Google Pixel 8 Pro smartphone and it was said that it will be made available for Pixel 8 as well.
During The Android Show held today, in the Q&A portion, a Google engineer said that Gemini Nano will not be coming to Pixel 8 smartphones because of some hardware limitations. Well, this definitely is saddening news for the Pixel 8 users who were eagerly waiting for the Gemini Nano on their devices.
However, it was said that the company is working to bring Nano to more devices, mainly to high-end devices in the near future. Further Google also detailed how Gemini Nano powers the “Summarize” feature in the Pixel Recorder app. Users can now get a summary of their recorded conversations, interviews, presentations, and more even without a network connection.
After Google’s announcement, it is suspected that the older or existing Google devices might also not get Gemini Nano. Let’s see which upcoming devices will be arriving with Google’s AI model.
