Google Pixel 8 series camera specifications leaked online

The Pixel smartphones introduced by Google have always been at the top of their game especially due to their excellent camera features. Recently Pixel 7A made its debut under the Pixel 7 series. Reportedly Google will soon be introducing the successor of the Google Pixel 7 series- the Google Pixel 8 series. It is said that the upcoming series will include two models- Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

Many users and tech enthusiasts were quite eager to know more about this upcoming series. The wait seems to get over as recently Android Authority published a report in which the camera specifications of this upcoming series have been revealed in a detailed form.

Google Pixel 8 series: Camera specifications

According to the report, a considerable hardware upgrade is coming to both models- the Samsung ISOCELL GN1 sensor makes way for ISOCELL GN2. The change in sensor brings a few improvements as the new sensor is larger and captures 35% more light for brighter low-light images and faster shutter speeds to reduce blur. This sensor also supports 8K/30fps video capture while there is also support for staggered HDR.

Google Pixel 8 is revealed to consist of a 50MP wide camera, 12MP Sony IMX386 ultrawide camera that provides a 0.55x zoom ratio, and an 11MP selfie camera. On the other hand, Google Pixel 8 Pro consists of a 50MP wide camera 64MP Sony IMX787 ultrawide camera that offers a 0.49x zoom ratio,  48MP telephoto camera that offers a 5x zoom ratio, and an 11MP selfie camera.

Just like the other Pixel smartphones after Pixel 6 include a single-point time-of-flight sensor to aid the autofocus- the STMicroelectronics VL53L1, so does the Pixel 8. While the Pixel 8 Pro will now arrive with a new 8×8 ToF VL53L8 sensor which is expected to make the autofocus much more reliable.

Pixel 8 Pro will be equipped with an FIR thermometer sensor. Adaptive torch is a new feature in Pixel 8 that dynamically adjusts the flash intensity based on the scene and other inputs. Another new feature is Segmentation AWB in which the scene will be segmented into different parts using AI.

As revealed the Pixel 8 series will be arriving with some major upgrades to hardware as well as software which could impress the Pixel users much more.
