Google Pixel 8 Visits the Wireless Power Consortium Certification Website: Wireless Charging Spec Revealed

Google’s upcoming smartphone, the Google Pixel 8 has now made its appearance on the Wireless Power Consortium, WPC certification website, revealing its wireless charging specification.

The tech giant, Google was expected to unveil the Google Pixel 8 series smartphones, which is to include the Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro devices, at the I/O developer event held on the 10th of May 2023 but, unfortunately, the brand didn’t do so leaving its awaited fans without any updates. Now one of the upcoming smartphones of the series, the Google Pixel 8 has made it to the Wireless Power Consortium certification website, which has revealed to us its wireless charging specification.

The upcoming Google Pixel 8 smartphone has appeared on the certification platform with the model number, GKWS6. Its Qi registration ID is 14063 as mentioned on the certification website and the device will be supporting a Qi version of 1.2.4 with a wireless charging capability of upto 12W. With this, it has also been confirmed that the Google Pixel 8 won’t be supporting Qi2 wireless charging standard which was introduced recently.

Previously, the renders of the Pixel 8 smartphone were shared online and revealed its full design spec with thin bezels, more rounded corners, an edge-to-edge camera module with a pill-shaped dual camera setup, and a punch-hole selfie camera on its display. However, the reference image that is given on the certification website resembles the Google Pixel 6 device with thick bezels and less rounded corners and is likely given for representation purposes only.

Now for its specifications, as far as now known, the Google Pixel 8 smartphone is expected to be powered by Google’s upcoming Tensor G3 chipset and is likely to operate on the Android 14-based operating system. The smartphone is also expected to feature a 6.2″ OLED display panel and will be retaining the flat front display.

About the other smartphone in the series, the Google Pixel 8 Pro’s live video was leaked recently and it has now been revealed that the smartphone will have a triple camera setup at its rear with a thermometer sensor.
