Google Pixel 9a launched in India with Tensor G4, 48MP camera, Flipkart availability confirmed

Earlier, it was leaked that Google might launch the Pixel 9a on March 19, 2025. That leak has now proven to be accurate, as Google officially announced the Pixel 9a just a few hours ago. However, as per Google’s statement, the device will be available for US customers starting in April.

Google Pixel 9a Specs

The Pixel 9a features a 6.3-inch Actua OLED display with a 1080 x 2424 resolution, a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a smooth 60–120Hz refresh rate. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protects the screen, which reaches up to 2,700 nits peak brightness for better visibility in bright conditions.

Google powered the Pixel 9a with its Tensor G4 processor, pairing it with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage to ensure smooth performance for daily tasks and multitasking.

For photos and videos, Google equipped the Pixel 9a with a 48-megapixel main rear camera, featuring a 1/2-inch sensor, optical image stabilization (OIS), closed-loop autofocus, and an f/1.7 aperture. The camera also supports Super Res Zoom up to 8x. Alongside it, the phone includes a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera with a 120-degree field of view and an f/2.2 aperture, providing flexibility for wide-angle shots.

For selfies and video calls, the Pixel 9a sports a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.2 aperture, ensuring sharp and clear images. The device also records 4K video at 30/60 fps and offers AI-powered photography features like Macro Focus, Add Me, and Best Take to enhance image quality.

A 5,100mAh battery keeps the Pixel 9a running for over 30 hours on a single charge. The device supports 23W wired charging and Qi wireless charging, offering flexibility for users.

Google built the Pixel 9a with durability in mind, giving it an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and a satin metal frame with a fingerprint-resistant coating.

How the Pixel 9a Compares to the Pixel 9?

The Pixel 9a shares the same 6.3-inch display size and Tensor G4 processor as the Pixel 9, but the Pixel 9 features 12GB of RAM, improving multitasking performance. Google equipped the Pixel 9 with a 50MP main camera and a 48MP ultrawide lens, offering higher-resolution imaging compared to the Pixel 9a’s 48MP + 13MP setup. However, the Pixel 9a has a larger 5,100mAh battery, whereas the Pixel 9 includes a 4,700mAh unit.

Both devices receive seven years of OS and security updates.

Pricing and Availability

Google priced the Pixel 9a at $499 in the US and ₹49,999 in India. The Indian variant comes in three colors: Iris, Obsidian, and Porcelain, while the global version adds a fourth option, Peony. The Pixel 9a banner is already live on Flipkart with the message “Coming Soon.” However, at the moment, clicking on the banner does not lead to any further details.

In its press release, Google confirmed that Pixel 9a sales will begin in April, but has not revealed the exact launch date yet.
