Honor Magic V2 scheduled to launch on July 12
On Wednesday (July 5), Honor will announce the Honor X50 mid-range phone. Soon after, the company will shift its focus to launching a new foldable phone named the Honor Magic V2. Today, the brand released an official confirmation that the Magic V2 will be announced on July 12 in China.
According to Honor CEO Zhao Ming, the Honor Magic V2 foldable phone will be 0.1mm thinner than the slimmest foldable phone available on the market. Smartphone brands in China are consistently launching new foldable phones with slimmer form factors on the market.
The Huawei Mate X3 stands out with its incredible 5.3mm thickness and weight of just 239 grams. Xiaomi’s MIX Fold2 from last year follows closely behind, with a slim profile of 5.4mm and weighing 262 grams. The Vivo X Fold 2 impresses with its ultra-thin design, measuring just 5.95mm thick, and weighing 278.5 grams. Lastly, the Honor Magic Vs, at 6.1mm thin and 261g, provides a balance between sleekness and usability.
Hence, based on what Ming has said, it appears that the Magic V2 will have an ultra-thin design of 5.2mm, making it 0.1mm thinner than the Mate X3. The company is yet to reveal the other specifications of the Magic V2.
Reports have revealed that the company will announce as many as two foldable phones on July 12. It is likely to announce the Magic V2 featuring the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and the Magic V2 Supreme Edition with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The series is expected to include a periscope zoom camera and support for wireless charging.
