Till now the iPhone 14 Pro models launched by Apple support only 3X optical zoom , now as per few rumors and reports it is believed that iPhone 15 Pro Max or Ultra could feature a periscope lens which will support 6X optical zoom .
If the speculations turn out to be true then all the iPhone 15 Pro Max or Ultra users will get advanced digital zoom on their devices . According to a report by The Elec , Apple is working on a folding zoom periscope camera module , which the company intends to keep exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max or Ulta .
According to Times of India , Apple is working with LG for the periscope lens and LG Innotek and Jahwa electronics are roped in to supply the OIS actuators for the periscope lens .
What is different about this periscope lens ?
The periscope lens allows for a longer optical zoom and is considered as a game-changer for smartphone photography . With the help of it’s folded design , the periscope camera can fi a longer zoom into a smaller space , resulting in a much higher zoom without digital cropping .
So if the iPhone 15 Pro Max or Ultra will feature this periscope lens , then it’s users might get to experience enhanced and advanced photography.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in July 2022 mentioned that iPhone 15 Pro Max or Ultra would be the only smartphone in Apple’s 2023 lineup to get a periscope camera lens and benefit from advanced optical zoom . On 31 January 2023 he again tweeted related to this news .

Currently , Apple offers 3X optical zoom lens on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Max . Apple users will have to wait a little longer for iPhone 15 Pro Max or Ultra to launch .
