OnePlus 12’s custom-made BOE display to be better than Samsung’s AMOLED panels

Rumours are rife that OnePlus will announce the OnePlus 12 as early as next month (November) in China. It is speculated that the global launch of the OP12 will take place in January 2024. Today, renowned Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station shared intriguing information about the upcoming OnePlus 12’s display.

According to DCS, the China-based BOE will provide a customized display for the OnePlus 12. This premium curved-edge screen will deliver a remarkable 2K resolution, and the leaker suggests it may outperform Samsung’s AMOLED panels, particularly in terms of display quality. The OnePlus 12’s screen is said to offer top-notch colour accuracy, brightness, and eye protection.

Additionally, the tipster previously unveiled details about the device’s display specifications. The OnePlus 12 will boast a sizable 6.82-inch OLED curved-edge screen. It will offer 3168 x 1440 pixels resolution and a seamless 120Hz LTPO refresh rate, and its low-brightness PWM dimming frequency is said to be set at 2160Hz.

As per other reports, the OnePlus 12 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, up to 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The device is said to pack a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The OP12 is expected to run on OxygenOS 14-based Android 14. For selfies, it may feature a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. Its rear-facing round camera module is said to feature a Sony IMX966 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS support, an IMX581 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and an OmniVision OV64B 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. It is also said to feature a metallic frame and water-resistant chassis.
