OnePlus Reported to Start Using Only Snapdragon Chipsets From Next Year Onwards: OnePlus 12, 12R, Nord 4/5 Processors Tipped

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer, OnePlus, has been reported to start using only Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets in their line-ups starting from next year, instead of the chipsets from MediaTek. Another Chinese smartphone maker will also be following this same step.

Here’s more about it.

OnePlus to Only Use Snapdragon Chipsets

This update comes from the Chinese tipster, Digital Chat Station, who has posted on the Weibo platform that OnePlus along with Realme will be using Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets for all their mid-range and high-end devices, starting next year, and he has also shared the chipsets that three upcoming OnePlus devices will be using.

The OnePlus 12 smartphone has been tipped to come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and the OnePlus 12R smartphone is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The OnePlus Nord 4 or Nord 5 smartphone might have the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset.

OnePlus launched many new smartphone devices this year and going through their specs, it is very clear that the brand has started relying more on using Snapdragon chipsets instead of a MediaTek chipset. Flagship devices like the OnePlus 11, Ace 2(and its rebranded version, 11R), and the recently launched OnePlus Ace 2 Pro use Snapdragon chipsets.

Nord series smartphones which include the Nord CE 3 and the Nord CE 3 Lite, both use Snapdragon chipsets. The Nord 3 smartphone from OnePlus and the Ace 2V are possibly the two smartphone devices that were launched this year with MediaTek chipsets onboard. To add, the brand’s very first tablet device, the OnePlus Pad, also came with a MediaTek chipset.

OnePlus devices are mostly known for offering better performance compared to the other smartphone devices of the respective segment and relying more on Snapdragon chipsets might be a step that is taken to ensure that the brand’s devices stay on top.
