[Update] OPPO A78 NBTC certified, launch seems imminent
Update: This is not a 5G variant, however, it is going to be a 4G variant of the Oppo A78. Rest of the story continue below:
In April, an OPPO smartphone with model number CPH2565 was seen in the database of Indonesia’s TKDN certification platform. The EEC authority in Europe approved it that same month. However, none of these listings revealed the name of the device. Now the said device has received approval from the NBTC regulatory body of Thailand. The listing has not revealed any information about the specifications of the device. However, it has confirmed its final marketing name.
As can be seen in the screengrab above, the OPPO CPH2565 will be called the OPPO A78 5G when it arrives on the market. It will arrive as a successor to the OPPO A77 5G, which debuted in June last year in Thailand. Hence, it appears that the A78 5G may debut in the country at some point this month.
The OPPO A77 5G was rebranded as the OPPO K10 5G in India. Hence, there is a possibility that the upcoming A78 may get rebadged as a K-series phone in India. Here is a look at the specifications of the predecessor model.
OPPO A77 5G specifications
The OPPO A77 5G has a 6.56-inch IPS LCD 90Hz display, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, an 8-megapixel front camera, and a 48-megapixel (main) + 2-megapixel (depth) dual-camera system. It features the Dimensity 810 chipset, up to 6 GB of RAM, up to 128 GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging. The K10 5G packs the same specs but offers 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
