Oppo Reno 12 Series Launched Officially In Global Markets; Turns Out To Be A Downgrade From Its Chinese Sibling
The Chinese smartphone brand Oppo officially introduced its latest Oppo Reno 12 series last month in the Chinese market and this series was said to make its debut in the global markets too. As officially announced, the Oppo Reno 12 series has now arrived in the global market but the global variant is not similar to the Chinese variant, it’s rather a downgrade.
Oppo Reno 12 Series: Specifications
The series boasts various AI features like- AI LinkBoost, AI Eraser 2.0, AI Studio, AI Best Face, AI Toolbox, and AI Eraser 2.0. Other features include- an in-display fingerprint scanner, face unlock, stereo speakers, IP65 rating, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.4.

The smartphone features a 6.73-inch AMOLED display that offers 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ screen resolution, 1200 nits brightness, and arrives with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. It is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy SoC, while its Chinese sibling arrived with Dimensity 8250 chipset. In the camera department also, Oppo Reno 12 (Chinese variant) arrived with 50MP+50MP+8MP triple rear cameras and 50MP selfie camera. In China, Oppo Reno 12 offers up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage but the global variant offers up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage only.
This global variant arrives with a 50MP Sony LYT600 main camera, an 8MP IMX355 ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera on the rear side while on the front it features a 32MP selfie camera. The device is backed by a 5000mAh battery that supports 80W SuperVOOC charging.
Oppo Reno 12 Pro
This device features similar display specs as that of Oppo Reno 12 but rather than Gorilla Glass 7i, it comes with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. It also boosts similar battery and processor specs as that of Oppo Reno 12.
The Chinese variant of this device offered up to 16GB RAM but the global variant comes with up to 12GB RAM only. Both variants offer up to 512GB storage. The device packs up a 50MP Sony LYT600 main camera, a 50MP Samsung JN5 telephoto camera, and an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra wide camera on the rear side while on the front it features a 50MP Samsung JN5 selfie camera.
Oppo Reno 12 series: Pricing
Oppo Reno 12 comes in Matte Brown and Astro Silver color options. The pricing starts at EUR 499 in the European market. Oppo Reno 12 Pro comes in Nebula Silver and Space Brown color variants. The pricing starts at EUR 599 in the European market.
